“Get them to live in the moment. You can live in the moment. Stop looking in the past and the future. You can live in the moment to dictate the future.” That was the mindset of second year head coach Todd Ryan for taking the job for Trinity. This fall was a turnaround season for the Trinity Shamrocks football team. After a rough 2018-19 season where the Shamrocks finished 1-9, the Shamrocks increased their win total by4 finishing the season 5-5, just missing out on the last spot for the District 3A playoffs.   The Shamrocks were a lot better defending the run and improved on offensive efficiency. The Shamrocks were led by a talented 15-member senior class who showed up to compete hard every Friday night. 

Some of the key players who helped fuel the improvement were quarterback Danny Scott, running back Daniel Kosinski, wide receiver Ryan Berrigan, cornerback D’Amonte Porter, and offensive lineman Andrew Mott.  As Coach Ryan said, “Berrigan came in and forced our wide receivers to compete more, and also gave a balance to D’Amonte.”

Although the season showed promise, the Shamrocks will lose 15 seniors to graduation and will have to rebuild next year once again, but that’s okay for the Shamrocks. “Younger players got a lot of experience. We have to build around them,” said Ryan. The expectations for the Shamrocks stay the same following the standard ‘Attitude, Effort, Technique’ at all times. To improve even more, the Shamrocks will continue to get better at the little things and also get a larger involvement in the football program. “ Get out and get the kids to play football,” said Ryan.

It sure was a season of improvement, so the school can get excited that Trinity football is back and it has the right guy leading it.
