Student Life
Trinity High School falls into PIAA Class AA and the Mid Penn Division. We are very proud of our robust and competitive athletic teams. All students are invited to participate in our athletic offerings, and because of our modest size, players often get the chance to compete. Don’t have experience playing the sport? No problem! Our teams and coaches are welcoming and encouraging. With hard work and an open mind, you’ll fit in with the team in no time.
Trinity’s enthusiastic cheerleaders attend every football game and help rev up Shamrock fans at pep rallies and in the stands. The squad emphasizes leadership, teamwork, strength, trust, and camaraderie.
Trinity’s robust Cross Country team boasts a welcoming, tight-knit group of runners. The team has been very successful, with 21 Mid Penn Championships between the boys and girls teams.
Trinity’s Friday night football games are often the epicenter for fall social activities for Trinity students and families alike. The boys on the football team play with heart and skill, learning important lessons of teamwork, strength, and wisdom while on the practice and game fields.
Trinity’s Golf team, composed of both male and female athletes, is small, but dedicated and competitive. They have five recent consecutive Mid Penn Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, this in addition to owning seven previous wins. Trinity golfers regularly compete at the State level.
The Boys Soccer team has captured nine Mid Penn Championships, as well as a PIAA District III Championship. Several Trinity soccer players have gone on to play Division I ball in college. Cooperation and a strong sense of team contribute to their success.
Trinity girls soccer has a long history of victories. Recently, the team has brought home the State title in three out of four years (2014, 2015, 2016). With 12 Mid Penn Championships and three PIAA District III Championships, our girls are accustomed to winning while building friendships.
Our girls tennis team has met with success over the last 15 years or so, with 12 of those years earning the Mid Penn Championship. Players have also won District III Championships, and many have gone on to play competitively in college. Support for one another and a strong sense of teamwork characterize Trinity’s tennis team.
The Volleyball team made school history in 2019 by winning the Division title and advancing to the State semi-finals! They turned around the next year and not only won the District title, but the State title as well! With a close-knit group of girls, teamwork, friendship, and hard-work lead to success on the court.
Of all its wonderful athletic programs, the tradition of Trinity’s basketball program is well-known in the community. With the leadership of Coach Kostelac for well over three decades and more than 750 wins, the Trinity boys have brought home 18 District III gold medal victories, 14 Mid Penn Championships, five PIAA Eastern Championships, and two state titles (2001 and 2003). Hard work and the expectation of excellence characterize our boys basketball team.
With 14 District III wins and 2 State titles, Trinity girls basketball is a force to be reckoned with. Teamwork, camaraderie, and hard work characterize our girls basketball program.

Trinity’s swimming and diving program has dozens of swimmers who have won District and State titles. Though Trinity does not have an on-site pool, we practice at local facilities. Our large team of boys and girls is also bolstered by participants from smaller schools, who don’t have the resources for teams of their own.
Trinity’s program boasts two, two-time District III Champions, two regional champions, and a two-time State champion. Trinity wrestlers have gone on to compete in college. Trinity wrestlers practice in a brand-new auxiliary gym built for their use on Trinity’s property. The tight-knit team operates under the motto: “All in, all the time.”
Trinity’s tight-knit baseball team of course practices and plays games together, but they also bond outside of the baseball diamond. With a couple of Mid Penn Championships under their belt and their first state playoff appearance in the 2021 season, this team is hungry for continued success.
The girls softball team emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship in their practices and games. The 2021 season brought the school’s winningest season yet and Trinity’s first District Championship! The team plays home games at Waas Park, in Mechanicsburg.
Trinity’s track and field team is one of the school’s largest teams, with over 20% of our student body participating in the sport! Boasting District III champions in excess of 60 student-athletes, and nearly 20 PIAA State Champions, the track and field team has a long tradition of excellence. This tradition continues with the guidance of our alumni, several of whom have come back to serve as assistant coaches. The 2021 season brought success at the District level, with 32 District medals, including a gold medal in the pole vault, and appearances on the podium at the PIAA competition, including the silver in the 110m hurdles. The Trinity track and field tradition is one of connection to teammates, excellence in athletics, and diversity in skill.
The boys tennis team plays with heart and skill, working together for success in a sport often imagined as more individual in nature. The team has earned a few Mid Penn Championships and several District III Championships. In 2021, the team excelled, with individuals competing at both the District and State levels.
The rise of lacrosse’s popularity in Central Pennsylvania brought the sport to Trinity’s athletic fields as well. Teamwork, camaraderie, and sport basics are emphasized in practices and on the field.

The young team brought home its first District 3 title in 2018, again in 2019, and for a third time in 2021. These Rocks are determined to make a name for Trinity High School in the lacrosse world.
