The Trinity High School Quiz Bowl team is the 2018-2019 Capital Area Quiz Bowl League Champions for the second consecutive year. Trinity easily dominated the competition this season and proudly went undefeated this year. Trinity’s team accumulated over 1,200 more points than Boiling Springs, who placed second in the Capital Area. That score is the result of over 120 questions answered correctly (without bonuses)!
Trinity’s only close match was against Bishop McDevitt, which resulted in a tie. Trinity faced Boiling Springs in the final match of the season. It was a battle of two heavyweights, the Number 1 and Number 2 seeds, but Trinity had very little trouble with this match. It was intense in the beginning, with the lead alternating roughly every other question. However, THS pulled ahead down the stretch and won the final match 395-210! Another match that presented very little difficultly was against Northeastern, which had a score of 440-55. Trinity also crushed Cumberland Valley with a score of 480-250. The Trinity Quiz Bowl Team will be competing in Districts and will hopefully repeat as District Champions.
Congratulations to the team’s starters: Connor Coyle ’20 (Seton House), Luke Capper ’20 (Immaculata House), Michael Staiger ’20 (Immaculata House), and Aaron Cartwright ’21 (Seton House); and to the team’s alternates, including: Connor Pushart ’22 (Seton House), Colin Schrim ’21 (Immaculata House), Dominic Mirarchi ’20 (De La Salle House), and Patrick Elter ’19 (De La Salle House).
