Trinity High School is a Catholic co-educational high school located on the West Shore of Harrisburg proud to offer rigorous academics, while balancing those with a strong learning support program. We offer Advanced Placement courses, honors courses, and the opportunity to earn dual high school and college credit, through our partnership with Alvernia University. Trinity boasts an impressive 98% of students who matriculate to higher education.
Students are encouraged to participate in our robust extra-curricular program. Because our school has 550 students, but a comparable number of clubs and sports to our local public schools who enroll many more students, there are more opportunities for participation and leadership at Trinity. Trinity students regularly play more than one sport and enjoy participation in several clubs, which allows for personal growth and the opportunity for leadership, as well as fostering a sense of ownership and belonging in Trinity.
Perhaps most importantly, because Trinity openly discusses matters of faith, morals, and religion regularly, Trinity is able to shape the whole person. At Trinity, our focus is not on test scores or passing rates, but on holistic education. We aim to develop citizens who are mature, informed and conscientious, while providing a solid foundation in faith which will grow with them their entire lives.
Students, alumni, and faculty almost universally speak the word “family” when talking of Trinity. Our community is strong and tight-knit and, starting in 2018, it will be enhanced by the House System, a system meant to strengthen the bonds between all members of our community.
For more information see our school profile.
The Trinity High School House System was launched in 2018 with the purpose of furthering the mission and ministry of the school, giving students more support and ownership of their educational experience, and strengthening school spirit and community. Trinity’s House System builds character, relationships, and school spirit through focus on smaller communities, friendly competition, and integration of various grade levels.
The House System seemingly divides students by placing them in one of four Houses, all of which are named after a saint or religious order which has contributed to the field of education, all of which have a tie to Trinity history and spirituality. Each House is then further divided into Mentor Groups of about 15 students in grades 9 through 12, which meets daily. These groups meet daily to check in with one another, encourage their peers, and discuss issues they face at school, at home, and in society. This division creates smaller groups with stronger bonds, ultimately unifying the school.
The House System aims to nurture a vibrant school spirit, inspire excellence, foster faith, and encourage leadership. Students are the driving force behind the House System—two captains lead the school, a captain leads each of the four Houses, and students chair groups responsible for planning activities, organizing service projects, and planning spiritual ministry. Through these roles, students not only take on an active role in their high school experience but nurture the many qualities that will benefit them in college and beyond.
“Trinity has come together and grown as a family, not just inside the school, but also when we leave, in part because of the House System. Personally, I have broken out of my shell and taken on more responsibility and leadership roles as a result of the opportunities in Trinity’s House System.”
